Getting paid: tips, subscriptions, and prices

FoundryInk gives you three simple ways to earn: readers can tip you, subscribe to your studio, or buy a priced asset. Before any money can arrive, you connect a payout account once. Here is how it all fits together.

Read time about 6 min

1First, connect your payout

Before you can sell or take subscriptions, connect a payout account. In Studio (owner only), open Payouts and link your Stripe account, then complete the short seller checklist. When the Ready to sell indicator turns green, you can price assets, take subscriptions, and earn from the read-share program.

This is a one-time setup. Do it early so nothing blocks you on launch day.
Pro note
Tips can arrive before this, but selling and subscriptions wait on a connected payout. Knock it out first.

2Tips: a one-tap thank you

Readers can send a tip straight to you from your studio, a series, an issue, or a post. It is a one-off, goes to you directly, and needs no setup beyond your payout. Tips you receive show up in your studio's Tips tab, where a one-tap say thanks lets you reply.

Pro note
A tip is the easiest way for a fan to say they loved something. Say thanks back, it goes a long way.

3Subscriptions: steady support

Readers subscribe to your studio (not a single series), so their tier unlocks everything you set at that level or below. Manage it all in Audience, then Subscribers: name and price your tiers, send Broadcasts, and see your roster and stats. On each asset's Price tab you choose the tier that unlocks it, or keep it free.

Pro note
Tiers are cumulative. A higher tier gets everything the lower tiers do, so keep the ladder simple.

4Buyers do not need an account

A reader can buy a digital asset from you without signing up at all. When a logged-out visitor taps Buy now on a read-online or download asset, they just enter an email (Enter your email to check out. No account needed), pay, and they are done: no password, no account step. They land on Purchased! with a note to check their email for a link to open the purchase. This removes the biggest reason a casual reader bails on a sale, the sign-up wall, so more of the people who wanted your work actually finish buying it.

There is nothing to switch on; guest checkout is automatic once your payout is connected. It covers digital formats only (read-online and download). Shipped or print orders, multi-item carts, and subscriptions still ask the buyer to sign in. Either way you still see the buyer's email on the sale, exactly like any other purchase.
Pro note
Every extra step between wanting your comic and owning it loses buyers. Letting them pay with just an email is one of the biggest wins you get for free.

Quick questions

You keep the large majority; the platform takes a small share to run the store and payments. Your Revenue tab shows the real figures per issue and per series.

Yes. Free work can still receive tips, and free published reads count toward the Gold read-share program, which pays out quarterly when your payout is connected.

Only if you choose it. Each asset decides whether a subscriber also gets the downloadable source file; it is off by default.

Studio Revenue shows your studio-wide total plus Gold stats, and each project's Revenue breaks earnings down per issue. You can export it.

By an emailed link. After paying with just an email, they receive a Your FoundryInk purchase is ready message with an Access your purchase button that opens what they bought. The link is single-use and good for a week, and it works on a couple of devices; to read on more, or to keep everything permanently, they set a password later from their purchases page, which turns the guest buy into a full account with the same library.
