Now and then a character runs across the Browse page. Catch it, and it's yours. Your Menagerie is the binder that holds those cameos, grouped into sets, next to a trophy case of badges you earn as you use the site.
Every so often a character darts across the public Browse page. If you're signed in, click to catch it. It slows down as your cursor gets near, to keep things fair. A small share of catches come back as a rare holo variant.
Your Menagerie shows every cameo you've caught, with its name and the studio it came from. They group into sets, one per studio, each with a progress bar and a count of how many of that troupe you've caught. The ones you're missing appear as locked silhouettes: just the shape, teasing what's still out there without spoiling the art. Catch them all and the set is marked complete.
Under your collection sits the trophy case. Badges are awarded automatically, nothing to claim: for reading (first read, then ten and fifty), community (first post, then fifty), collecting (first catch, ten, twenty-five, a full set, a holo, cameos from five different studios), and tenure (a Founding member badge for early members). Locked badges show a progress bar toward the next one. Your public profile gathers all of it into a reader identity: a reader tier that climbs from newcomer to legend, a stats row (issues read, series completed, current and longest streak, cameos caught, groups joined, tips given), and an activity feed you can scope to public, followers, or private.
Be signed in, watch the public Browse page, and click the character when it runs across. It slows as your cursor approaches, so it's meant to be caught, not fought.
A rare shiny variant. A small share of catches come back as one, marked with a holo tag in your binder.
Locked silhouettes: cameos from that studio's troupe you haven't caught yet. You see the shape, not the art, so there's something left to discover.
No. They're awarded automatically across reading, community, collecting and tenure. Locked ones show a progress bar toward the next milestone.
Yes. Preferences, under Reading and playback, has a Show cameos switch, and the catch card has a Stop showing me cameos link. The setting follows your account.
Cameos caught, sets closing in, trophies on the shelf. Now go meet these people in person.
