Prints, merch, and commissions

Digital is only half the story. You can sell your issue as a printed book (we print and ship, or you ship your own stock), add merch like totes and mugs, and take commissions for custom work. Here is how each one works.

Read time about 7 min

1Sell it in print

Once an issue is published online, choose Publish for print. Fill the pre-flight basics (title, description, studio bio, genre), pick colour or black-and-white, and set your cover price. A live cost grid shows your numbers. Your files then go to a print specialist who reviews and signs off before it goes live, and can suggest corrections you approve.

Prefer to ship yourself? Choose your own stock instead of print-on-demand, set your own price, track inventory, and pack orders from the Fulfilment tab (printable packing slips included).
Pro note
Print-on-demand means zero inventory: we make and mail each copy when someone orders. Great for starting out.

2Add some merch

Merch is its own asset kind. Create one from a project (Assets, then New, then Merch) with a cover and a gallery of product photos, set a price and stock, and pick fulfilment: ship it yourself, or link a print-on-demand provider that makes and ships each item for you. Linking a provider imports the size and style variants automatically.

Pro note
Totes, prints, pins, mugs. Merch turns a favourite panel into something a fan can keep on their shelf.

3Open for commissions

In the Commissions tab, create a commission type: a title, description, cover image, and price (add sample art, a turnaround, and a buyer prompt if you like). Set slots to cap how many you take at once, then Open for orders. Orders land in your inbox, where you Start work, message the buyer, and either upload and deliver a digital file or add tracking and mark shipped.

A Takes commissions badge shows on your studio's Browse card while you are open. Slots auto-close you when full, so you never overbook.
Pro note
Set slots low to start. It is better to deliver three great pieces than to drown in twelve.

Quick questions

No. With print-on-demand FoundryInk prints and ships each copy on order, so you hold nothing. Choose self-fulfilment only if you want to ship your own stock.

A print specialist checks your files will actually print well (bleed, resolution, cover) and signs off, or suggests small fixes you approve. It protects the copies that reach readers.

Merch is a physical product (a tote, a mug, a print) with product photos and shipping. A download pack is digital files. This tutorial is about the physical side.

Any time. Hit Close to orders to pause, and your slots and the Takes commissions badge update automatically.
